Also this year, Val Gardena was honoured as one of the most beautiful ski resorts of the world!

Val Gardena/South Tyrol is among the world’s TOP 10 ski resorts., the world's leading ski resort rating agency, has given a total of 16 ‘Top Awards’ to Val Gardena in its 2012 test report (published in January 2012) placing Val Gardena in the world's Top 10 ski resorts once again.

The team evaluated the ski area for the 2011/2012 ski season on 18 criteria. Val Gardena was awarded 5 out of 5 stars in the five most important categories, which carry extra weight in the overall ranking, and 5 out of 5 in the ‘accommodation close the slopes and lifts’ category.

The report explains:
“Much of the accommodation in Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva, three villages closely grouped within 8 km of each other, is immediately adjacent to the lifts and slopes. There are also hotels accessible only on skis or by ski lifts. The Sella Ronda circuit of lifts and slopes goes through Selva, and S Cristina can be reached by very quickly. To reach the Sella Ronda from Ortisei you have just to take the lift to Seceda (2518 m), skiing down to S Cristina and from there taking a connecting funicular to the Saslong cable car.”

Size of Ski Area:
Val Gardena is one of the largest ski areas in South Tyrol, with 500 km of interconnected slopes around the Sella that can be enjoyed using the Dolomiti Superski lift pass.

Variety of Slopes
Runs of all grades of difficulty, from gentle boulevards to extreme skiing, well connected with Fassa, Arabba/Marmolada and Alta Badia ski areas via the Sella Ronda circuit. A unique slope offer in a unique landscape – a UNESCO world natural heritage site.

Snow Reliability:
Runs to the valley open from the first to the last day of the season thanks to snow-making on 95% of the slopes.

State of the art gondolas and chairlifts. Drag lifts now confined to the nursery slopes. Lifts open late for extra value.

In addition, 4-star Top Awards for Val Gardena were in the categories of Maps and Signage; Cleanliness; Friendly staff; Beginners; Experts and Freeriders.
