Ortisei, together with Santa Cristina and Selva, is one of the three municipalities of the Val Gardena, considered one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Tyrol because of its uniquely beautiful location and the hospitality of its inhabitants. As the main village of Val Gardena, Ortisei has a wonderful pedestrian zone with shops, cafés and restaurants.
Rasciesa and Seceda can be reached directly from the village by cable cars and are a paradise for hikers and winter sports enthusiasts. From Ortisei, you can also reach the Alpe di Siusi, a unique hiking and skiing area and the largest high-alpine meadow in Europe, using a modern lift. In addition to German and Italian, Ladin is spoken in Ortisei.
