The Sella Ronda Ski Marathon comes to its 18th edition this year. It is an international touring ski competition that takes place at bight around the Sella Massif, along the most famous ski runs of the world.
This competition is open to 2-people teams and, due to its technical features it is reserved to expert and skilled skiers only. The athletes run equipped with specific touring skis with synthetic seal skins on, for the ascents, and they wear special front lamps to ski all the way down the steep downhill runs.
The track is really amazing and it connects the main resorts of the four Ladin valleys which are Selva, Corvara, Arabba and Canazei where, every year in turn, the start and the arrival of the competition take place.
The competitors have to ski along a total of 42 km overcoming the four passes of the Dolomites: Sella, Gardena, Campolongo and Pordoi for a total height difference of 2.700 m. An exciting and enduring race, just for very qualified and trained skiers who have to be prepared even to face very unsecured tracks and changing weather conditions. It can be considered a truly unique touring ski competition!
Start and arrival are in Arabba this year.
