For mountain bikers, the HERO Dolomites is one of the top events in the Alpine region every year. The extremely challenging mountain bike race around the Sella always takes place one day before the Sellaronda Bike Day, a wonderful public bike day on the legendary Sellaronda. The start and finish of the HERO is Selva in Val Gardena. When you register for the race, you decide whether you want to ride the 60 km route or take on the marathon route with a length of 86 kilometres. Whatever your decision, only the top athletes will reach the finish line. Both professional athletes and ambitious hobby mountain bikers can register for the HERO Dolomites.

Sellaronda HERO: Routes

There are two routes to choose from to participate in the HERO Dolomites: a 60 km and an 86 km route. Once you have registered, it is no longer possible to change the route. Which challenge would you like to take on at the HERO?

Marathon: 86 km - 4,500 HM

On the 86-kilometre marathon route, you will cover a difference in altitude of 4,500 metres. The start and finish of the course are in Selva. From Selva you travel over the Passo Gardena/Dantercepies to Corvara, then over the Passo Campolongo to Arabba, over the Passo Pordoi to Canazei/Campitello and the Passo Duron back to Selva.

Classic: 60 km - 3,200 HM

The 60-kilometre route also has a lot to offer with an altitude difference of 3,200 metres. From Selva, it takes you over the Passo Gardena/Dantercepies to Corvara, over the Passo Campolongo to Arabba and the Passo Pordoi and the Sella Pass back to Selva.

The HERO Dolomites is a mountain bike race in the Dolomites. Amateur and professional cyclists can choose between two routes to face the challenges of the toughest MTB marathon in the world.

Which routes are available for the HERO?

When registering for the HERO Dolomites, you can choose between a 60 km and an 86 km route. Both routes are on public and private roads so the rules of the Italian Road Traffic Act apply and helmets are compulsory. Participation is only permitted on a mountain bike.

How can you take part in the HERO Dolomites race?

The starting places for the HERO Dolomites are limited to approx. 4,000 registrants and prior registration via the race website is mandatory. Persons 19 years of age and older are eligible to participate. The organising committee is entitled to reject registrations or exclude participants who could damage the image of the event due to previous doping suspensions or other reasons. By registering, you agree to the regulations published on the organiser's website.

Participants of the HERO Dolomites are advised to stay overnight in Selva or one of the other two villages in Val Gardena. HERO Kids

Children enjoy movement and love to emulate their idols! At HERO Kids, all children between the ages of 4 and 12 are invited to put their skills to the test. However, competition is not the main focus of this short and easy children's race in the centre of Selva.

Of course, there will be a prize-giving ceremony after the race, where the heroes and heroines of tomorrow will be duly celebrated! A colourful supporting programme will ensure an exuberant atmosphere.

The entry fee for the race, in which a maximum of 500 children can take part, is €25 and includes a HERO Kids jersey and cap.
