Dantercepies in Val Gardena

In winter, Dantercepies in Val Gardena is a paradise for skiers who love a bit of variety on the slopes against a spectacular backdrop. The region around the Passo Gardena is also very popular in summer – not surprising, as there are enchanting hiking trails, breathtaking MTB trails, numerous climbing opportunities and inviting huts where you can enjoy South Tyrolean specialities. Families will appreciate the area for its numerous play options for children, pram-friendly walking trails and flora and fauna that invite you to explore.

Dantercepies cable car

The Dantercepies cable car connects Selva with the Passo Gardena – one of the entry points to the famous Sella Ronda. In summer, the cable car can also be used by bike if you want to ride the region's varied trails more than once and save yourself the steep climb. Hikers and climbers can reach the Cir via ferrata and the Passo Gardena without the need for a car.

Dantercepies ski area

The Dantercepies ski area is located right at the eastern entrance to the Val Gardena ski area and offers you exciting challenges as well as historic routes. You can expect 13 kilometres of slopes in spectacularly beautiful surroundings. Whether it's the speedy "La Ria" descent, the Cir slope, which is part of the Legendary 8 and was the venue for the 1970 World Championships, or the Dantercepies slope, which was already used for a descent in 1908 – you'll find the perfect descent to suit your taste here. The Val Gardena ski pass is sufficient for the descents towards Val Gardena. To ski down towards Val Badia, to access the Sellaronda or the Dolomiti Superski ski network, you'll need the Dolomiti Superski ski pass.

Huts to visit

From Dantercepies, you can enjoy more than just a marvellous view. The huts in the area also emphasise enjoyment. The Dantercepies Mountain Lounge is one of the places to stop for a relaxing break or an extended rest in good company. In addition to typical South Tyrolean specialities, an extensive wine list awaits you here.

Close to the Dantercepies mountain station, the Panorama Hut serves pastries, South Tyrolean dishes, homemade cakes and many other delicacies that are sure to taste great with the panoramic views on offer. The lively Jimmi Hut also serves regional specialities. The wonderfully rustic Ciampac Hut is located close to the valley station.

Several rewarding hiking and walking trails in the Dantercepies region are ideal for an excursion with the whole family. Make sure you plan enough breaks to take photos of the magnificent views and stop off at one of the huts in the area, where South Tyrolean specialities are served.

Mountain biking

The Dantercepies area is a hotspot for mountain bikers outside the ski season. Hire a classic MTB or an e-mountain bike and the right protective equipment from a local hire shop for an adrenaline-fuelled trip to the Dantercepies bike park or a day tour on the famous Sellaronda.

Dantercepies bike park and flow trails

The Dantercepies bike park is located directly on the Sella Ronda and is legendary among mountain bikers. As part of the Trail Arena Val Gardena, the bike park promises adrenaline-fuelled descents in front of a breathtakingly beautiful panorama. Despite their steep incline, the two flow trails are not too demanding and are therefore also suitable for ambitious amateur mountain bikers with the right equipment. The 1.6-kilometre-long Giara Trail leads from Dantercepies to the Passo Gardena. After a few jumps at the beginning, the 1.4-kilometre-long Tiera Line is a pleasant flow route.

Sellaronda MTB tour

The Sellaronda, a world-famous ski circuit in winter, is perfect for a mountain bike tour in summer, which takes you around the entire Sella Group in one day with the help of several lifts. You can start the Sellaronda MTB tour from Dantercepies; you only need a single ticket to use the lifts.

Climbing around Dantercepies

There are several via ferratas near the Passo Gardena where you can improve your skills, feel the thrill of the mountain and enjoy breathtaking views. The best-known via ferratas include the Small Cir, the Big Cir and Pisciadù. Sport climbers also get their money's worth in this area.

Via ferratas

Via ferratas allow you to experience the beauty of the Dolomites up close. With the via ferrata to the Big Cir and the short, slightly more difficult via ferrata to the Small Cir, there are two wonderful climbing opportunities around Dantercepies. The Pisciadù via ferrata is one of the most popular in the Dolomites.

Sport climbing

For a long time, the Dolomites were not considered a typical region for sport climbing. However, there are now more and more sport climbers who appreciate the advantages of the area and pay a visit to the numerous climbing gardens around Dantercepies – especially when the weather conditions do not permit longer tours.

Frea

In the Frea/Passo Gardena area, there is a climbing garden with several levels one above the other. The climbing garden generally has a mountain feel, which is why it is only suitable for families with children to a limited extent. The views here are particularly beautiful in the evening sun.

Tridentina

The Tridentina/Passo Gardena climbing garden is located on the Badia side of the Passo Gardena. The rock bar is 90 metres high, with routes of up to three rope lengths.

Eiszeit

The Eiszeit climbing garden is also located on the Badia side of the Passo Gardena. The sport climbing routes are excellent but not suitable for younger children due to the steep and sloping ground.

Early morning skiing

In the early hours of the morning, the slopes around Dantercepies are not yet very busy. Take the opportunity to improve your skills when most winter sports enthusiasts are still having breakfast and book your own ski instructor on the Cir ski slope. Early morning skiing takes place here every Wednesday between 7:30 and 9:00 am

Sunrise Dantercepies

Every Tuesday morning at 6 am in winter, you have the opportunity to admire the sunrise at the Dantercepies cable car mountain station. At the Dantercepies Mountain Lounge, you can enjoy a hearty breakfast before hurtling down the pristine slopes on a fat bike or skis. It's worth getting up early: the Dantercepies surroundings are almost magically attractive before the normal opening hours.

Burning Dolomites

"Burning Dolomites" is a magical natural spectacle that bathes the pale peaks of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in a glistening red light. On the Big Cir peak, you have the chance to witness the sunrise and sunset, be mesmerised by the sight of the glowing mountains and take wonderful nature photos. Autumn in Val Gardena is the best time of year for this.
