Longest giant slalom in the world

Next race: 23th and 24th March 2024

Proving the fact that skiing in Val Gardena is possible until April, the Südtirol Gardenissima takes place every year at the end of winter season. Covering a distance of 6km and an altitude difference of over 1,000 meters, the race is a true challenge for all participants – including the many VIPs who attend every year!

The Gardenissima starts at the Seceda mountain station. Participants begin the race in pairs - on a parallel course - but after the first kilometer, the tracks merge into a single run. In other words, you not only have to ski as quick as you can, but also outrace your direct competitor!

More Information

If tackling the longest giant slalom in the world (race time: over three minutes!) sounds like your kind of thing, make sure to register as early as you can – even though over 600 people can take part in the event, the race is always booked out!

Gardenissima KIDS

After two decades of Gardenissima editions, it was decided that a separate race should be held for children. And indeed, since 2016 the Gardenissima KIDS has taken place to great success! Children between the ages of 7 and 14 can take part in this special event. Like its big brother, the Gardenissima KIDS starts off as a parallel slalom and then merges into a single run below the Daniel hut.

The Gardenissima KIDS is obviously shorter than the adult version. While the start is in the same location (at the summit of Seceda), the finish line is drawn in the proximity of the Fermeda chairlift valley station, after a run of about 1.9 kilometers. The award ceremony will take place right after the race in the presence of promising ski talents.

By the way: Did you know that there is a special Gardenissima family ranking? If parents and children of the same family take place in both races, their times will be added up! If more than one parent or child take part in the race, the best time of both runs will be taken into account for the family ranking.

Enrolling your children in the Gardenissima KIDS will make for a very special family day – don’t miss it!
