The Seceda in Val Gardena is a 2,519-metre-high mountain in the Dolomites. As part of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, it is a prime destination amid an impressive landscape. The region around the mountain is also known as "Seceda". In winter, Seceda is an exciting skiing area, and in summer it is a popular hiking area where you can embark on tours of all lengths. Numerous huts here invite you to take a relaxing break. The Seceda is also famous as a photo spot: from here you have a stunning view of the Odle Peaks.

The Seceda is the ideal place to take impressive pictures of the famous Odle Peaks. Where are Seceda and the Odle Peaks located?

You can reach Seceda on foot at any time of year. In winter, a snowshoe hike is a great idea. From S. Cristina (Col Raiser cable car) and from Ortisei you can easily ascend to Seceda by cable car.

Is it possible to stay overnight on Seceda?

Some huts offer overnight accommodation on Seceda: Almhotel Col Raiser, Rifugio Fermeda and Rifugio Firenze. Pitching a tent is not allowed, but you can sleep outside with your sleeping bag.

Hikes in the Seceda region

The Seceda and the surrounding area offer a dense network of wonderful hiking trails of varying lengths. No matter whether you are travelling with the family or planning challenging hiking tours – the popular hiking area attracts visitors with cosy huts and impressive views. The Seceda hiking area can be easily reached from the villages of Ortisei, S. Cristina and Selva.

Mountain biking on Seceda

If you feel like exploring this fascinating mountain by mountain bike, you can either take your bike up by cable car or use old-fashioned muscle power. Since more and more mountain bikers have been discovering the Dolomites for themselves in recent years, there are now also several trails on Seceda that descend at breakneck speed. There is also an MTB rental at the valley station of the Seceda cable car.

Via ferrata and climbing

The Dolomites are a paradise for climbers. There is no sport climbing area on Seceda itself, but the Odle peaks are perfect for alpine climbing. The challenging climb up the "Hinkelstein" Pieralongia is a real highlight. On the Sas Rigais via ferrata, you can climb the imposing 3,025-metre-high Dolomite peak and enjoy a magnificent panoramic view at the summit cross.

La Longia

La Longia, "the long one", is a ski slope that leads you over a distance of 10 kilometres from the Seceda to Ortisei and belongs to the "Legendary 8" – the eight most beautiful ski slopes in the Val Gardena ski area. The legendary slope is considered to be of medium difficulty and offers you spectacular views and skiing pleasure in a class of its own.

The Gardenissima: The longest giant slalom in the world

Every year at the end of the ski season in Val Gardena, sporting adventurers head to the slopes for a special event. With a distance of 6 kilometres, the South Tyrol Gardenissima is the longest giant slalom in the world. The start is at the mountain station of the Seceda.
