Restaurants
Although Val Gardena is located high in the Alps and the nearest ocean is quite a few miles away, modern logistics make it possible to sample fresh seafood locally – not only in the villages, but on the slopes as well! These are Val Gardena’s best seafood venues:
"SooChic" on Plan de Gralba
It takes a 5 minute drive from Selva (20 minutes from Ortisei) to get to this restaurant, but if you’re looking for seafood, this might be your best option in Val Gardena. SooChic features a wide selection of appetizers, first and main courses. An extensive wine card guarantees you will have a good time here.
Tip: There is a cigar lounge in the basement of SooChic. Bring your own, or buy one at the venue, and kick back with a good whisky!
"Bellavista" in Selva
The Bellavista has been Selva’s main fish restaurant for decades. Run by a southern Italian family, it is located right next to Nives Square in the town center. Don’t expect a high-end dining experience, but for seafood this is the most accessible restaurant in Selva.
On the Slopes
"Comici" on Plan de Gralba
Comici is one of Val Gardena’s most renowned mountain huts, and they have been serving seafood at an altitude of over 2,500 meters for decades. The choice and quality of fish are truly impressive. Comici is very close to the Sellaronda, so it makes for a perfect lunch stop if you want to reward yourself for a hard morning of skiing. Book ahead if you don’t want to wait in line! Open in Winter and Summer (no seafood in summer though). Only accessible on skis or foot.
Tip: Comici organizes about a dozen special event dinners during winter season. You’ll be chauffeured to and from the hut on snow groomers and enjoy a special atmosphere. Reservation mandatory!
