A well-known Dolomite pass
The Gardena Pass (Italian: Passo Gardena) is a Dolomite pass located 2,121 m above sea level that connects Val Gardena with Val Badia. The pass leads from Selva to Colfosco and features a fantastic mountain landscape: The Sella Group in the south, the Cir Peaks in the north, the Sassolungo in the west and the peaks of Val Badia in the east offer breathtaking views. You can enjoy a particularly beautiful view of the mountains early in the morning or the evening from the terrace of the Dantercepies mountain station.
In winter, you can get active here in the Selva ski area, which is part of the Dolomiti Superski ski association. The Gardena Pass is also one of the four passes of the legendary Sellaronda.
In the summer months, the Gardena Pass is the starting point for countless hikes and mountain bike tours. Climbing gardens and via ferratas are also available here. The area around the Gardena Pass was inhabited as early as the Stone Age, as archaeological finds prove. During the First World War, the region was important for the supply of German-Austrian troops. Since the middle of the 20th century, the area has been increasingly developed for tourism.
